Flight includes meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment for your journeyDay 2, Fri Arrive and transfer to Tel Aviv for an orientation drive past Yitzhak Rabin Square, the Mann Auditorium and Habima, Israel's National Theatre. This evening, a welcome drink and briefing: TEL AVIV Day 3, Sat This morning, enjoy a walking tour of Neve Zedek, a picturesque neighborhood, with its many art galleries and restaurants. Balance of the day at leisure. In the evening depart for an illuminated tour of Tel Aviv and Jaffa followed by dinner (B, D): TEL AVIV Day 4, Sun In the morning, stroll through the Carmel market. Depart Tel Aviv, traveling north along the coastal highway. Visit Caesarea, with its ancient Roman port and aqueduct, Byzantine streets and Crusader ruins. Drive to Mt. Carmel for a view of Mukraka Monastery and the Haifa Bay. Nearby, you will visit the Druze Villages and their attractive markets. Continue to Haifa and view the Bahai Gardens. Drive and visit the Church of the Annunciation, the largest church in the Middle East. Continue to Tiberias (B, D): TIBERIAS Day 5, Mon Today choose an optional tour of the Golan Heights with lunch. Depart for Safed, the mystical Kabbalist center and artists' colony. Ascend the Golan Heights, stopping for spectacular vistas of the Sea of Galilee (Lake Kinnereth). Tour a kibbutz and learn about this unique communal way of life followed by lunch. Next visit an olive oil mill and the winery in Katzrin ($69). Evening at leisure. For those who wish, visit a diamond factory (B): TIBERIAS Day 6, Tues Depart Tiberias for boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. Visit Capernaum, site of a second century village and synagogue on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee. Continue to Tabgha, traditional site of the Miracle of the Loaves and Fish. Drive around the Sea of Galilee to Yardenit. Continue to Beit Shean in the Jordan Valley to visit the excavations, and Roman amphitheater. Proceed to Beit Alpha and visit the zodiac mosaic floor in the ancient synagogue. Drive through the Jordan Valley to the Dead Sea area (B, D): DEAD SEA Day 7 Wed This morning, enjoy the spa facilities at your hotel. “Swim” or float in the Dead Sea and enjoy a mud bath. Continue to Masada . Ascend via cable car to visit the excavations of the fortress of King Herod and last stronghold of the Zealots against the Romans. Descend the mount via cable car. Drive along the shores of the Dead Sea past Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Continue to the Ahava Dead Sea Laboratories and see how creams and lotions are made with minerals from the Dead Sea. Drive through the Judean Desert to Jerusalem. Stop on Mount Scopus for a traditional welcome to Jerusalem (B,D): JERUSALEM Day 8, Thurs From Mount of Olives, view the city of Jerusalem spread out below. Continue to the Old City, entering via the Dung Gate to visit the Western (Wailing) Wall, the remnants of the Second Temple. You may be able to witness a Bar Mitzvah ceremony. Visit the Rabbinical Tunnels under the foundations of the city. Stroll through the restored Roman Cardo in the Jewish Quarter. Continue to the Christian Quarter, and walk the Via Dolorosa (the Stations of the Cross) to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the traditional site of the Crucifixion. End the tour at Mount Zion and view King David's Tomb and the Room of the Last Supper. Balance of the day at leisure (B): JERUSALEM Day 9, Fri This morning, visit the Shrine of the Book at the Israel Museum, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are housed. Continue to Yad Vashem and visit Israel's memorial to the Holocaust. Next, you will visit Mount Herzl Military Cemetery, where Israel’s dignitaries are buried. Drive past the Knesset, Israel's Parliament and the President's House. In the afternoon, choose an optional tour to Bethlehem, visiting the Church of the Nativity. This is the oldest church in the Holy Land still in use, commemorating the birthplace of Jesus Christ. The facade of the Church of the Nativity is encircled by the high walls of the three convents: the Franciscan on the northeast side, the Greek Orthodox and the Armenian Orthodox, on the southeast side ($25). In the early evening, visit the Kotel, the Western Wall, to welcome the Sabbath. In the evening, choose an optional illuminated tour of Jerusalem with dinner at Kibbutz Ramat Rachel ($39) (B): JERUSALEM Day 10, Sat This morning, visit the Museum of the History of Jerusalem, located inside David's Citadel adjacent to Jaffa Gate. Enjoy a walking tour of the Old City and walk through the colorful bazaar. Afternoon at leisure.
